The “Giuseppe Verdi" Parma Airport modernisation project began in 1980, at the initiative of the "Gaspare Bolla" Air Club and with the agreement of the public authorities of Parma, some business organisations, the largest local business and some banks.
Three years later, the management of the airfield was taken over by SO.GE.A.P. S.p.A., the company founded following the integration of local economic, political and business organisations: public authorities in the Parma district, some banks and more than 130 private businesses investing and believing in the beneficial effects the airport brings to the local economic community.
