More about ENLoCC

Development of goods mobility is a key issue for economic prosperity. Therefore a strong partnership for regional logistics development on a European platform is necessary. Logistics Competence Centres (LoCCs) are in charge of bringing together the logistics key players on the regional level but also of developing co-operations on a transnational and international level, to initiate and to process projects which improve logistics services and infrastructures.
Therefore LoCCs stand for regional networks and solutions for the following tasks:
  • Bringing together politics and logistics key players;
  • Develop the regional economy by solving infrastructural, organisational, technological problems of logistics and transport;
  • Act as service provider for the network partners;
  • Co-ordinate logistics projects;
  • Official contact for the logistics objectives in the region.
The ENLoCC project, co-financed by the European Union and running until the end of 2007, aims at the establishment of an open European network “Open ENLoCC” for institutions engaged in the economic development of logistics and either understand themselves as a LoCC or desire to create such an institution.

The Open European Network of Logistics Competence Centres (Open ENLoCC) represents the basis for the European cooperation of LoCCs. The partners founded this open network as a cooperation platform for know how transfer, for developing joint projects and for solving interregional/international transport logistics problems.
The 1st step towards Open ENLoCC was founding LoCCs in selected regions and the European cooperation in pilot projects. Now the phase of the establishment of ENLoCC open to all interested institutions is embarked. The starting signal was a workshop on 2005-10-26 in Bologna. In this workshop the ENLoCC project partner informed potential Open ENLoCC partners and discussed with them the concept. A second workshop was held on 2006-05-12 in Poznań.
There, the project ideas of the partners were discussed and grouped into thematic clusters. In the meantime, more potential partners have signed a letter of intent and stated their interest to join activities in one or more of the thematic clusters.

The network “Open ENLoCC” was finally founded by 12 partners from 11 European regions in Kornwestheim near Stuttgart at a meeting on 2006-11-17. The partners also adopted “Articles of Association” on this meeting.
This document describes the structure and the contents of the Open ENLoCC Concept. It is meant to be of indicative character only. Those documents which formally bind the members are the Open ENLoCC “Articles of Association” and the protocols of Open ENLoCC meetings.

ENLoCC brings together the partners for joint logistics activities and for know how transfer. The following benefits are specially targeted for economic development on the field of logistics. Each ENLoCC partner gains from:
  • Contacts to public and commercial key players in the logistics field all over Europe
  • Building of partnerships for European solutions
  • Access to Open ENLoCC services
  • Yearly Open ENLoCC Workshop
  • Logistics training courses
  • Support for founding and operating a regional logistics competence centre (LoCC).
